The (or IPL.z64 ) file is the Initial Program Loader (IPL) for the Nintendo 64 Disk Drive (64DD). Unlike standard N64 cartridge games, which use a small boot code (IPL3) embedded in the cartridge itself, the 64DD peripheral requires a complete BIOS to initialize the system and manage its unique disk-based media.
