Click the three dots (⋯) → Settings → Downloads . Click Change next to the "Location" path.

Set your download path to an external hard drive or a cloud-synced folder like Google Drive or Dropbox to save local space.

Open Google Chrome and click the (⋮) in the top-right corner. Select Settings from the menu. Click Downloads in the left-hand sidebar.

If you use a different browser, the process is similar but located in different menus:
