When Madhumitha (Aishwarya Rai) arrives in the U.S. with her ailing grandmother for medical treatment, she and Vishu fall in love. To win over the stubborn father, Madhumitha is forced to create a fictional twin sister named "Vaishnavi". This leads to a series of comedic and dramatic complications as Ramu unwittingly falls for the non-existent Vaishnavi.

The story revolves around Vishu and Ramu (both played by Prashanth), identical twin brothers living in Los Angeles with their father, Nachiappan (Nassar).
